Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte has a position open for an Organist. The time requirements are every Sunday from 8:30am to 10:30am, for a brief adult choir rehearsal and the traditional service, and every Thursday adult choir rehearsal from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Additional services include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and funerals. Approaching Easter and Christmas, there will be a couple of additional rehearsals.
Qualifications are the ability to accompany the congregation on standard hymns with modest improvisation and appropriate registration, and to accompany a choir under the direction of a conductor, which includes playing by sight and occasionally from open score. The person hired must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The pay range is $14k-16k per year. While this position is responsible for traditional worship, HGUMC also enjoys contemporary, African, and Latino services as an integral part of its multi-ethnic mission. We look forward to hearing from you (please note that e-mail is the preferred method of communication), and we thank you for your interest. Open until filled.
