Church Secretary



Job Description

Beyond assisting in the day-to-day operations of the church, the secretary is often the first person the public sees or talks to. In that sense, the secretary becomes pastor, church and denomination to visitors or callers. Because of the nature of this position, the secretary must demonstrate a high level of trust and the ability to protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality.
Duties include:
  • Prepare church bulletin, bi-weekly newsletter and mail/email correspondence
  • Maintain church records and directories
  • Handle scheduling and communicating of church events
  • Maintain office equipment and supplies
  • Field incoming calls, mail, and office traffic
  • Support for congregational/guest needs as well as pastor, ministries, and committees
  • Backup coverage for other non-ministerial staff positions
  • Have a caring attitude, excellent people and communication skills, and high integrity
  • Be accessible, responsive, and flexible to handle the changing needs of the church
  • Have excellent clerical and computer/technology skills
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Salary based on experience
