Second Sunday of Easter
April 11, 2021

Welcome

Dr. Mark Ralls
Blue Ridge District Superintendent

Opening Music

Myers Park United Methodist, Charlotte

Easter People, Raise Your Voices
     United Methodist Hymnal, #304

Easter people raise your voices
Sounds of heaven in earth should ring
Christ has brought us Heaven's choices
Heavenly music let it ring
Alleluia alleluia
Easter people let us sing

Fear of death can no more stop us
From our pressing here below
For our Lord empowered us
To triumph over every foe
Alleluia alleluia
On to victory now we go

Every day to us is Easter
With its resurrection song
Even when life overwhelms us
Easter people sing this song:
Alleluia alleluia
Everlasting Sunday song.

Call to Worship

Rev. Linda Kelly
Smoky Mountain District Superintendent
with Rev. Erin Yow, Abigail and Sammy

Jesus said, “A time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.”
Come, Easter people, it’s time to worship!

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Come, Easter people, it’s time to embrace the peace of Jesus and stop worrying and being afraid.

Jesus said to his longing-to-believe disciple, Honest Thomas, “Put your finger here. See my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Come, Easter people, and all persons seeking the truth. It’s time to stop doubting and believe.

It is time to worship, to embrace the peace of Jesus, and to stop doubting and believe the reality of the resurrection. Christ is risen. Christ is risen, indeed!
Jesus is alive! He really is!

(Call to Worship written by Rev. Linda Kelly)

Opening Prayer

Rev. Laura Auten
Uwharrie District Superintendent

Litany

Dr. Carl Arrington
Appalachian District Superintendent
Rev. David Christy
Catawba Valley District Superintendent

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The Lord reigns with majesty enrobed;
The Lord has robed Himself with might,
And has girded Himself with power.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The world you made firm, not to be moved;
Your throne has stood firm from all ages.
From all eternity, O Lord, you are.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The water have lifted up, O Lord,
The waters have lifted up their voice,
The waters have thundered their praise.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

When Israel came forth from Egypt,
Jacob’s children from an alien land,
Judah became the Lord’s sanctuary,
Israel became his possession.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The sea fled at the sight:
The Jordan turned back on its course,
The mountains leapt like rams,
Hills like yearling sheep?
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Tremble, O earth, at the coming of the Lord,
In the presence of the God of Jacob,
Who turns the rock into a pool
And stone into a spring of water.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Christ our Passover has been sacrificed;
Let us feast with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

The Stone which the builders rejected
Has become the Cornerstone.
This is the work of the Lord, a marvel in our eyes.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

This is the day the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Come, sing our your joy to the Lord;
Hail the Rock who saves us.
Let us come before Him giving thanks;
With songs let us hail the Lord!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Hymn

St. Paul United Methodist, Winston-Salem

Everlasting God
     By William Murphy

The Lord's my light and salvation.
Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?
I will wait on you, I will wait on you
I will trust in you, I will trust in you

The Lord's my light and salvation.
Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?
I will wait on you, I will wait on you
I will trust in you, I will trust in you

I will remain confident in this I will see the goodness of the Lord.
I will remain confident in this I will see the goodness of the Lord.

The Lord's my light and salvation.
Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid?
I will wait on you, I will wait on you
I will trust in you, I will trust in you

I will remain confident in this I will see the goodness of the Lord.

We set our hope on You.
We set our hope on Your love.
We set our hope on the One who is the Everlasting God.
You are the Everlasting God,

Thine Be the Glory
     United Methodist Hymnal #308

Thine be the glory,
risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory
thou o’er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment
rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave clothes
where thy body lay.

[Refrain:]
Thine be the glory,
risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory
thou o’er death hast won.

Lo! Jesus meets thee,
risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets thee,
scatters fear and gloom.
Let the church with gladness
hymns of triumph sing,
for our Lord now liveth;
death hath lost its sting. (Refrain)

No more we doubt thee,
glorious Prince of life!
Life is naught without thee;
aid us in our strife.
Make us more than conquerors,
through thy deathless love;
bring us safe through Jordan
to thy home above. (Refrain)

Benediction
