Along the beautiful backdrop of Lake Junaluska, a group of Asian and Asian-American pastors and their families from both the North Carolina and Western North Carolina Conferences gathered for their annual convocation. This is an intentional time set apart for Asian and Asian-American pastors and their families to praise God, reconnect across conference lines, and support one another in ministry. During the convocation, participants learned practices of self-reflection from Rev. Dr. Soomee Kim, an ACPE Certified Educator at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. During programming, participants traded their Bibles and journals for work gloves and closed-toed shoes to serve God through a family in the Cruso community. The work of recovery in Haywood County following the devastating floods from Tropical Depression Fred in August of 2021 persists. If you or your church group are seeking an opportunity to serve, please reach out to the Conference Disaster Coordinator, Brian Mateer, to schedule.
