INVE$T YC :: Pay it Back, Pay it Forward: Debt, Investing, and Wills
Inve$t Young Clergy 2018-19 Session #3
If caring professionals could look into your finances and offer a plan to help you reach your goals, would you let them?
Mary Langhorne, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), will lead us in conversation around planning to reach our financial goals, and you’ll appreciate her caring spirit and financial acumen. Ginger Shields, an attorney and now serving as Executive Director of West Market Street UMC in Greensboro, will help us know that, even though we’re all young, it’s never too early to know about legal documents like wills and powers of attorney. Finally, Rev. David Snipes, President and Executive Director of the United Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina, will tell us how the Foundation will pull back the curtain on “one of the best-kept secrets in the Conference” to show us how the Foundation can be a vital ministry partner with each of us and the churches we serve.
Hosted and facilitated by the Rev. A.J. Thomas, Founder, Joyful Giving Group LLC, the seminar will begin promptly at 10:00am, and conclude by 4:00pm, including lunch.

INVE$T YC (Young Clergy) promotes financial health and personal practices. Many young clergy begin their ministry with significant debt and don’t have the tools, skills, and experience to budget, save, and eliminate debt. This can interfere with one’s ability to preach, teach, and practice generosity and stewardship in a local congregation. INVE$T YC is designed to help clergy be pro-active instead of re-active. The program also will teach skills for young clergy to manage stress, set boundaries, and establish practices that enable a lifetime of healthy ministry.
The program that includes four events aimed at helping young clergy develop and maintain life-long practices of financial and personal health: September 17-18, November 1, January 24, May 2. Interested participants may sign up for one or multiple sessions.
