Moore Joins Higher Education and Ministry’s Collegiate Ministries Team
The Rev. Dr. Timothy Moore will join the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) on August 3, 2015, as director of Collegiate Ministry Resources and Training in the Division of Higher Education. “We are excited about the skills, experience and energy that Tim brings to our work. His experience in Wesley Foundations and college chaplaincy will add significant value toward our goal of becoming the premier leadership resource for collegiate ministry in the United Methodist connection. We look forward to having him join our team,” said the Rev. Dr. Matthew Charlton, assistant general secretary of Collegiate Ministries at GBHEM. As director, Moore will coordinate the development of resources for collegiate ministries and oversee the development of training and continuing education events. He also will connect with and support global work with collegiate ministry programs around the world while giving attention to emerging trends in higher education that impact collegiate ministry. Moore is an ordained elder in the Western North Carolina Annual Conference. He has served local congregations in North Carolina and England and campus ministries at Duke University and Western Carolina University. In 2009, Moore began work at Young Harris College in Georgia where he has been dean of the chapel, minister to the college, and associate professor of Religious Studies. He has served on various boards and professional organizations and is currently a member of the National Association of College and University Chaplains, the United Methodist Campus Ministry Association and the Association of College and University Religious Affairs. Moore received a Doctor of Ministry from Hood Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Duke University, a Master of Letters from The University of St. Andrews in Biblical Studies and Spirituality and a Bachelor of Science in Religion and Philosophy from Greensboro College.
