Director of Communications

First United Methodist Church in Hickory, NC is seeking a qualified, creative, and motivated Director of Communications to develop and oversee all areas of communication for the church and its ministries. Qualified applicant should have at minimum an associate degree in communications. New graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply with references. Salary range: $35000-$38000 annually with full benefits package.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Manage the church website keeping it up to date and relevant
• Manage and keep up to date engaging content for all social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, podcast and other platforms
• Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media channels
• Track, analyze, and report on social media performance on a weekly basis
• Collaborate with all staff on communicating upcoming ministry opportunities and events
• Create the monthly newsletter
• Create and send the weekly news blast
• Keep on-site communications such as bulletin boards and posters current
• Be responsible for online and AV communications one Sunday a month plus other services or events as needed
• Work to get new podcast launched
• Oversee the growth, training, and workflow of all church communications
