2022 Project AGAPE Sunday
WNC United Methodist churches are encouraged to observe Agape Sunday on April 24th or any Sunday that fits the church’s schedule. Please hold the people of Armenia in your prayers as they are still suffering from the war in 2020, which was not unlike what is going on in Ukraine now.
Earth Day Celebration and "Creation Ministry Ideas Exchange"
Clergy and laity alike are invited to celebrate Earth Day and join with the WNCC Creation Care Ministry Team on April 23rd from 9:30am to 12:30pm as we participate in “Hope and Healing for the Earth: Redeeming Creation 2022.”
Means of Grace: A Future with Hope - A Conversation with the WNC Delegation
In this episode of the Means of Grace podcast, members of the WNC Delegation to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences give an update about where the conferences currently stand and the decisions that are waiting from the Judicial Council.
Harry Denman Evangelism Award
The Harry Denman Evangelism Award program honors United Methodists in each annual conference whose exceptional ministry of evangelism – expressed in Word (what), Sign (why), and Deed (how) – brings people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.

Annual Conference News
This year, special events being held at the WNC Annual Conference must be submitted online. To book your event at Lake Junaluska, or to request that your event be included in the official special events calendar for Annual Conference, follow this two-step process.

The Annual Conference meeting and worship services will be livestreamed on the annual conference webpage and can be viewed in various places around the Lake. That list of options will be made available in the program materials. Please note, however, registration and full participation (including voting) will ONLY happen in person.

Save the Date for the Smoky Mountain District & Lake Junaluska 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration
at Lake Junaluska immediately following Sunday's closing worship. Watch this video to learn more about this holiday and celebration.

OTHER NEWS

  • We invite you to view Bishop Carter's 2022 Easter message on the resurrection moments happening in churches and ministries across the conference. We are the body of Christ. And, we are Easter people.

  • "On Tuesday of Holy Week, members of churches across the Conference gathered in Taylorsville to learn about the execution of Jesus. Facilitated by death penalty abolitionist, Shane Claiborne, and First UMC, Taylorsville pastor, Rev. Joel Simpson, participants were led through the traditional fourteen stations of the cross. On this night, however, the images for each station were far from traditional. These images portrayed the execution of Jesus as painted by the men awaiting their own execution on Tennessee’s death row." Read more...

  • We are excited to return to an in-person format for 2022 Convocation and Pastors’ School. Please mark your calendars for October 9-11, 2022 at Duke Divinity School. This year, our theme is "Creativity and Courage: From Trauma to Tough Hope."
