Your Conference Creation Care Ministry Team is Gearing Up!

News

Your Conference Creation Care Ministry (CCM) Team, which is part of the Justice and Reconciliation Team, is moving forward with plans and activities designed to engage the local churches throughout the Conference in ways to honor and glorify God through creation-related intentional acts of caring and justice. An email has gone out to each of the District Superintendents outlining first steps, which include identifying a creation care point of contact at each church in the Conference who will facilitate communications between the CCM Team and the members of his/her congregation, as well as offering a late-summer three-part webinar series designed for all clergy members which addresses “What is the Problem?”, “Why Should We Care?”, and “What Can We Do?” from a Creation Care Ministry standpoint.

One of the team has already begun reaching out in the Metro District to contact individual churches and see what is going on in each church in the creation care area and to hear what we can do to support efforts to grow an existing ministry or help establish a new one. We plan to do that in all districts as we move forward and as we grow our team. If you, or someone you know, are passionate about creation care and creation justice and want to join our team, we would welcome your passion and ideas!

Keep your eye out for a new CCM webpage coming soon on the Justice and Reconciliation Team’s portion of the WNCC UMC website. It will provide the theology of creation care, some of The UMC’s statements and positions regarding creation care and creation justice, steps to take to get started on a creation care ministry at the local church level, some ideas for intentional acts of caring and justice to help you start “greening” your church, and additional resources to help educate on the issues and hope-based solutions related to creation care and creation justice.

Email your CCM Team at CreationCareWNCC@gmail.com and let us know how you would like to be involved, how we can help you get started with a CCM, or how we can help support and expand your current efforts. We look forward to hearing from, and working with you, as we make this journey of renewal together!
