Special Session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church: 2019
What is the Commission on a Way Forward?
At a Special Session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church, 864 delegates (half lay and half clergy) met February 23-26 in St. Louis, MO, to discuss the report of the Commission on a Way Forward. They also passed legislation related to protecting our pension plans and working with churches who may want to disaffiliate from the denomination.
As we approach the Special Session of the General Conference, we remain in an extended season of prayer with you. We are always aware that the office of bishop, entrusted by you to us, is a gift and a sacred privilege. We seek to fulfill this role with humility and faithfulness.
