Maggie Valley is looking for one or more persons for the following musical ministries:

Adult Choir Director
We will receive applications beginning November 2018 with the goal of having person(s) hired by February. The search is for the best person or combination of persons to serve God through Maggie Valley with the gift of music.
Maggie Valley UMC is the oldest congregation in the valley and just celebrated 150 years of ministry. The congregation is Anglo, middle and lower-class, educated, and diverse theologically and politically. Our annual budget is $270,000. The worship and music budget is $2,000 plus salary and benefits for the Minister of Music. Maggie Valley is a great place to be in ministry.
Our congregation has over 200 members with an average summer attendance of 180. Staff includes one full-time pastor, a part-time organist, a part-time associate pastor, a part-time administrative assistant, a nursery attendant, and a custodian and cleaning staff. The new staff person will be a part of a collegial team, especially with the senior pastor, and will work closely with the adult choir.
The current music program includes an adult choir of 15-20 persons in the summer with lower attendance in the winter. Worship is traditional and liturgical. The 11:00am Worship is a traditional Service of the Word with monthly Holy Communion. During five months of the summer, there is an additional 8:30am service that may involve special music (based on the skills of the musician). The choir enjoys singing a variety of music and hymns are primarily chosen from The United Methodist Hymnal. The Minister of Music is a principal musical accompanist along with our organist.
Requirements include appropriate educational background, experience in a similar position, and appreciation of United Methodist theology and structure.
This person(s) will be a part-time salaried employee(s) of the church. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, and continuing education.
A resume and supporting documents are required. A comprehensive background check will be conducted for each serious candidate.
