Camp Guilrock Camp/Program Director


MISSION: To provide a quality ministry of Christian hospitality, intentional spiritual growth, and leadership development in a year-round setting of natural beauty.  Will be responsible to manage and lead the ministry of the camp, including program, facility and services, as well as serve as the primary ambassador for the camp.
1. Mature adult with a deep Christian faith consistent with the standards of the United Methodist Church.
2. Vision, energy and passion for camp and retreat ministry in the outdoors.
3. Creative programming skills including experience and ability to lead.
4. The ability to manage systems, (financial and operational) and people.
5. The ability to oversee building and grounds.
6. Welcoming spirit of hospitality and drive for quality ministry.
7. Bachelor’s Degree in related area (or equivalent experience and training).
8. Certification in Camping Ministries by the General Board of Higher Education Ministry.
9. Clean background check including criminal, driving and credit.
1. Ability to live on site and provide overall management of the camp and its operations.
2. Create, develop and oversee year round programs in conjunction with the Board of Directors, local church partnerships and other groups interested in camping experiences.
3. Ability and desire to be trained and work as a facilitator on the low ropes challenge course.
4. Ambulatory ability to move about the site and auditory and visual ability to identify and respond to any situation that may arise.
5. Ability to communicate and work with groups and individuals.
6. Cognitive abilities to plan for and coordinate activities at the camp.
7. General management of the camp including scheduling, facility, program, summer camp, hospitality, group ministry, administration, planning for future growth, grant writing and all other work needed to provide a holy place of camp and retreat ministry.
8. Maintain a presence using social media outlets.
9. Recruit, prepare for, host and serve groups who contract to use the site.
10. Promote the ministry of camp to local churches throughout the conference, to the local community and to other potential hospitality groups.
11. Recruit, interview and with the Board of Directors assist to hire staff, train staff and volunteers, supervise staff and volunteers, and evaluate the work of staff.
12. Responsible for the necessary administration needed for operating the camp in cooperation with the Board of Directors. Prepare and present monthly report of activities at Board Meetings.
13. Assure that the total site and all facilities are always in an attractive, safe, well-maintained condition. Assure that the site is operated in compliance with all regulations (food service, health, etc.) and strive to be in compliance with the applicable standards of The American Camp Association.
14. Work in conjunction with the Board of Directors in raising funds for the camp, which includes but is not limited to fundraising events, solicitation of churches and individuals and annual giving programs.
15. Willing to partake of continuing education opportunities.
16. Willing to become an NSPF Certified Pool Operator; ARC Life Guard and First Aid Certifications a plus.
17. Additional responsibilities as may be mutually agreed upon with the Board of Directors.
