INVE$T YC (Young Clergy) promotes financial health and personal practices. Many young clergy begin their ministry with significant debt and don’t have the tools, skills, and experience to budget, save, and eliminate debt. This can interfere with one’s ability to preach, teach, and practice generosity and stewardship in a local congregation. INVE$T YC is designed to help clergy be pro-active instead of re-active. The program also will teach skills for young clergy to manage stress, set boundaries, and establish practices that enable a lifetime of healthy ministry.
WHO: WNC clergy under the age of 40.
WHAT: A program that includes four events (one overnight and 3 day-long) aimed at helping young clergy develop and maintain life-long practices of financial and personal health. Registration includes all 4 gatherings and attendance is expected at each of them.
Jonathan Allen, Allen Wealth Management; Nate Berneking, Missouri Annual Conference of the UMC; Bob Christophel, Wespath Benefits and Investments; Mark King, Western North Carolina Conference; Mary Langhorne, MGL Financial LLC; Mike Slaughter, Ginghamsburg Church & Passionate Churches LLC; David Snipes, United Methodist Foundation of Western North Carolina; and Donna Claycomb Sokol, Washington DC.
