A new thing!
Have you ever prayed that you could connect with folks who live in your neighborhood, with persons from other cultures, or even persons who are at risk? Have you hoped that your congregation could engage beyond its walls? Have you desired to go deeper in your faith? God is doing a new thing across the ground of our communities and churches that is an answer to such prayers.
The Neighborhood Seminary is a new training program providing robust missional, spiritual, theological, and practical formation to equip lay people to engage in their home, neighborhood, workplace, and community. Led by an integrated team of Duke scholars, community practitioners, and trained spiritual directors, this initiative is coming to your neighborhood.
Meeting September through April, the monthly format for the Neighborhood Seminary looks like this:
- once a month Saturday sessions
- meeting with your spiritual formation small group (one-two times a month)
- participation in community engagement (once a month)
The Northern Piedmont District of the United Methodist Church is partnering with Duke Divinity School, The Duke Endowment, and Parish Ministry Fund to bring the Neighborhood Seminary to Greensboro area. Come and discern how you might partner with God who is on the move in your neighborhood.
We look forward to seeing you at our first gathering on August 2, 2018!
