AC2023 Lay Delegate Elections

In order to participate in the lay elections at Annual Conference, each lay member is expected to bring a device capable of connecting to the internet or a cellular network, such as a tablet, laptop, or smartphone. Instructions will be provided, and with just a few clicks, you can submit your vote from your smart device. For persons without a smart device or uncertain about this process, please ask your pastor for assistance.

At the 2023 Western North Carolina Annual Conference meeting in June, there will be lay delegate elections for the General Conference and Jurisdictional Conference meetings scheduled in 2024.   Laity will elect 2 or 3 lay delegates, as well as 3 reserve delegates, to fill openings that occurred because of lay member resignations since 2019 when the original elections took place.  Judicial Council Decision Number 1472 allows Annual Conferences to elect these laity.

The WNCC Board of Laity Chairperson, John Crane, has confirmed that the goals and principles related to the election of laity delegates that was adopted in 2019 will continue to be in place since these elections are for the same delegation.

The General Conference meeting in 2024 is the postponed 2020 session and will be held April 23-May 3, 2024 in Charlotte, NC.  The Southeastern Jurisdiction Conference will be held July 9-12, 2024 at Lake Junaluska.

Persons who wished to be considered for election completed a submission form by May 1, 2023.

A booklet with the names and information of persons who want to be considered will be made available to all WNCC Lay Members in mid-May.  Please check the WNCC Annual Conference webpage regularly for information about annual conference.
