Continuing education units (CEUs) record the educational accomplishments of an individual who completes significant non-credit educational experiences under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction. CEUs are not awarded for academic study and do not represent, or provide, academic credit.
1 CEU = 10 contact hours
A contact hour is defined as participation in the actual time of learning or transformation – the actual hours of lecture, instruction, group discussion or individual study. This does not include worship (unless part of the curriculum), fellowship, travel, meals or breaks. Participation is defined as attendance and active involvement.
For more information about CEU standards and guidelines, see this document from GBHEM.
How to apply for CEUs
If you are a teacher/trainer interested in offering CEUs for your participants, complete this online CEU request before the educational program/event. Upon approval, you may provide participants with CEU certificates at the end of the program/event that they can use to report their hours as needed.
If you are an individual who seeks to receive CEUs for education you've received, complete this online CEU application after the educational program/event. You will be notified if CEUs are approved and documentation will be provided to report your hours as needed.
