Project AGAPE: Christmas Shoe Boxes Needed

August 22, 2013

Dear Pastors and Mission Chairs:
It's time for our churches to start collecting items for Christmas Shoe Boxes! Our WNCC United Methodist connection, Project AGAPE, sends Christmas Shoe Boxes to children in the Kashatagh region of Nagorno-Karabakh for distribution. Begin planning now to collect items. The drop off dates are September 23-27. The drop off locations are: Maylo UMC (Gastonia), Salem UMC (Morganton), FUMC Lenoir, Central UMC (Clyde), FUMC China Grove, Groce UMC (Asheville), Clemmons UMC (Clemmons), Hinshaw UMC (Greensboro), and Memorial UMC (Thomasville). See attached information for further details. Please encourage your churches to support this United Methodist ministry of Christmas Shoe Boxes for the children of Armenia.
This information is also for collection of clothing for AGAPE and flood buckets for UMCOR.
Click on the links to access files for the Christmas Shoe Boxes, the Fellowship of 1000, and the MRC Packing Guide. Please note the drop off list of dates on the attached MRC Packing Guide brochure does not have our correct September dates. Make a note to change the drop off dates to September 23-27.
Also, please remember NOT to place checks or cash for shipping in the shoe boxes themselves.  Either write a check to the WNCC Treasurer and mail it directly to the conference office or, have your local church collect the donations and then have your church treasurer write one check to send to the conference.  Finally, be sure to place Project AGAPE-Christmas Shoe Boxes on your check.
If you have any questions about Project AGAPE, please contact Rev. Allan Van Meter at or by phone, 336-403-6792 (cell).
